When the 50-year old existing cabin was rebuilt, the
nationally recognized design used sustainable building materials
and mechanical systems to reduce energy consumption and waste. It
was important to the owner that the design was sensitive to the world
around it. She was clear she wanted “an earth friendly
house” without the waste, site destruction and energy consumption
such projects usually generate. Renowned architect Sarah Nettleton,
www.sarah-architects.com, and the team of builders and consultants
met the challenge. Through innovation and persistence, they succeeded
in creating a simple, light filled, luxurious space that honors nature
and respects the history and ecology of the site.
