Penfield garments are designed to stand up to the demands of the New England climate and our founding principles of fashion, function, practicality and durability still resonate clearly in today’s collection.


This season, we have developed a number of styles using our very own Hudson Wax Cloth, named after the birthplace of our label, Hudson, Massachusetts. Our Hudson Wax Cloth is a densely woven fabric with a blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton, making the material not only windproof but also extremely durable. Thanks to its impregnation of environmentally friendly dry wax, the surface is also water-repellent whilst still allowing for breathability and moisture wicking.

For Spring/Summer 2011, we are also very proud to introduce our new Lightweight Hudson Wax Cloth, a blend of 60% Nylon and 40% Cotton also with a wax impregnation.

Perfect for a milder climate, this hardwearing fabric also wicks moisture effectively away from the body in a lighter fabrication than Penfield’s original Hudson Wax Cloth and is the perfect solution for 'Life in the Open'.


Definable by their lightweight design and functionality, the brand new Dover, Holbrook, Russell and Rider jackets exude understated style and are the perfect manifestation of Penfield's Trailwear and Classic series.

Due to the nature of the wax impregnation, the surface of the fabric may appear marked with age; these natural imperfections after time will enhance the overall look of the garment.

Turning our backs on February and the long Winter, we kick off a return to warm weather with a selection of versatile Early Spring looks.


While the sun still finds space between the clouds, our new range of outerwear will equally see you through the very first balmy days of Spring and the showers of March and April. This season more than ever, color is key and vibrancy works alongside more subdued pastel hues in layers.


Whether hiking the trails of Brimfield State Forest or taking an early stroll on Nobadeer Beach, we have got the appropriate attire for you in both style and function, underlining our 35-year old design statement “For life in the Open.”


For Spring 2011, our Trailwear collection returns with some new and exciting silhouettes such as the Barnstable, Walpole,and Sconset jackets, all featuring our very own wind-resistant and water-repellent Hudson Wax Cloth. Match them up with some of our Classic styles for a dapper, go-anywhere outfit: a striped oxford shirt and a good pair of twill chinos will work a charm to complete the look.

Spring begins today here at Penfield and we are particularly delighted to introduce our brand new Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. This season, we kick off a return to warm weather with a wide-ranging, versatile collection of men’s and women’s outerwear and apparel “for Life in the Open”.


Equal parts style and function, this collection continues to take inspiration from our Massachusetts roots for a comprehensive selection of jackets, shirting, shorts, pants and accessories made to wear from the first days of spring through the last days of summer.






Both our Trailwear and Classic collections return with such familiar favorites as the Gibson and Lockwood jackets, alongside some new silhouettes like the Barnstable, Sconset and Walpole, all featuring our very own wind-resistant and water-repellent Hudson Wax Cloth.


This Spring also sees the introduction of a new Lightweight Hudson Wax Cloth. Perfect for a milder climate, the nylon/cotton blend with wax impregnation wicks moisture away from the body in a lighter fabrication than our original Hudson Wax Cloth.






When it’s warm enough to shed your coat, we also offer a vast array of lightweight tops and bottoms. In addition to enduring styles in plaid and chambray, shirts with contrasting fabrics and unexpected details add a twist to traditional pieces. The vintage garment washing of the Sherborn, the patchwork oxford Stockbridge, and raglan sleeves on the Watertown are all inspired by classic Cape Cod casualwear from the 50’s and 70’s.


Tie-dyed accents, shaped collars and a full range of Polo shirts also round out the collection. Shorts pick up on many of the same cues as the shirting, with the Grafton style alone available in twill, patchwork, tie-dye and oxford. The practical, stylish Selford 6-pocket cargo short with contrast lining is meant to be worn with any number of shirts from this new collection.






Not to be outdone, our Women’s line for Spring/Summer 2011 offers a comprehensive array of timeless Classic and Trailwear silhouettes – including the Anoka overcoat and Walpole field jacket. Our women’s range is finally complemented by the Anzak shirt, a favorite from the men’s collection, as well as our trademark hard-wearing Oxon satchels.

The Penfield Trailwear label was created in the 1970’s – it is a range that symbolizes the heritage and quality of those early years, and the spirit of what Penfield still stands for. It also comprises an important part of our Fall/Winter 2010 collection, and as a result offers up some of the most interesting Penfield pieces to date.





A new addition that sees the culmination of much of Penfield's best attributes is the DANVILLE, a diamond quilted insulated trail jacket with tonal corduroy collar, internal gingham shoulder yoke and the versatile Hudson Wax Cloth throughout.

Another new style is the FOXCROFT, a mid-weight goose down jacket that shows both the brand’s appreciation for its aesthetic tradition and growing influence in the high-end market. With a MELTON wool exterior, Hudson Wax Cloth patch-detailing on the shoulders and elbows, and front storm flap, the Foxcroft is in many ways symbolic of the great Massachusetts outdoors.

The Stapleton Vest makes a rudimentary appearance of course in Navy, Fossil, Tan and Black among other seasonal colors and fabrics, with leather yoke and color contrast lining.

A strong offering in shirting and knitwear also makes this season's Trailwear collection stand out, with the Chatham putting in a veteran showing alongside the Merrimac flannels and the Bayfield, a 100% wool knitted shawl collar sweater with wood and loop neck detail.

Anchored by a versatile mix of staple and heritage silhouettes, including the instantly-recognizable Stapleton, Rockford and Kasson styles, our Fall/Winter 2010 Collection is our most comprehensive line to date; we are very proud to announce that it also marks our 35th Anniversary as an authentic outdoor apparel brand.


This collection is brought together by a classic autumnal color palette and several signature fabric stories by way of Penfield Tweed and Hudson Wax Cloth, a woven poly-cotton blend with a dry wax impregnation that is not only windproof, but water-repellent, as well.
